I left Clark Hall thinking, Marquette University has its own hospital wing.
But that’s not entirely true. Thanks to Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare, Marquette’s new Center for Clinical Simulation gives students a hyper-realistic setting to practice nursing. The place will make you believe you are visiting the hospital: a front desk and lobby, suites with hospital beds, vital signs monitors, ventilators, exam rooms, nursing staff lockers, and an assisted living apartment. And there are patients: mannequins that talk, breathe, bleed and sweat. One can even give birth. Students gain experience through clinical scenarios — all recorded and reviewed later in the center’s video-screen debriefing rooms.
